In the paper four letters written by the famous Hungarian traveler and pioneer of Turkology and Central Asian studies, Ármin(ius) Vámbéry (1832–1913), sent to the founder of modern Turkology, Willi Bang(-Kaup) (1869–1934), are edited/ commented on and reproduced in full. These letters were sent by Vámbéry between 1896 and 1910 and deal with the latest research into the languages of the Orkhon-Turkic inscriptions and the “Codex Comanicus”.Downloads
