Abstract

In the paper four letters written by the famous Hungarian traveler and pioneer of Turkology and Central Asian studies, Ármin(ius) Vámbéry (1832–1913), sent to the founder of modern Turkology, Willi Bang(-Kaup) (1869–1934), are edited/ commented on and reproduced in full. These letters were sent by Vámbéry between 1896 and 1910 and deal with the latest research into the languages of the Orkhon-Turkic inscriptions and the “Codex Comanicus”.
