Abstract

The paper aims to study the role of literary and published works both in the cultural life of Transylvania and (as far as it is relevant for this area) in the cultural life of historical Hungary. The emphasis lies upon the historical influences which played a significant role in the development of literary works. The focus of the presentation is directed toward the object of the reception, the written literary culture in Transylvania, and the historical-social framework in which the reception occurred, namely, the Transylvanian principality in the 16th century. The existence of previous works has made to possible to develop a model for this reception in the 16th century. The archives contain large amounts of texts, so that a complete review of them is not possible. Therefore the most relevant works have been selected for this research subject, and they are also indexed in libraries. The most relevant aspects from this repertoire have been selected, namely, the works referring to Transylvania.
