The Lexicon of the Sexual Sphere Among the Old Albanian (Old Gegue) Authors
Abstract
This paper deals with the sexual vocabulary of Old Albanian. It is intended as a small contribution not only to the lexicography of Old Albanian, but also to Albanian lexicography in general. It is known that Albanian lexicography is still deficient with respect to the chronological compilation of its lexicon. This holds true for the sexual vocabulary as well. Although talking about sexual matters is a central part of human communication, sexual vocabulary is often neglected by lexicographers. This paper thus covers the words and phrases of the sexual vocabulary in the documents in Old Albanian from the 16th–18th centuries.
