Gáspár Heltai in Hungarian-German Relations. The Phrasemes in Heltai's Work “Ponciánus Császár históriája” in a Hungarian-German Comparison
Abstract
There is a lot of acknowledgement of Gáspár Heltai`s life and work in Hungarian literature, but with regard to his mother language and his fewer works written in German, it is interesting to read further how this imposing figure in Hungarian literature is perceived in German literature. A significant part of Heltai`s writings represent works rooted in translations, which can be regarded as independent writings from the perspective of Hungarian literature and which can be researched by means of various literary criteria. The present paper aims to provide a short and concise analysis of Heltai`s work “Ponciánus császár históriája” both phraseologically as well as from the perspective of translation theory and practice.Downloads
