Bulgarian Calls for Luring Farm Animals
Abstract
After a short description of the neolithisation of south-eastern Europe and some aspects of the introduction of cattle-keeping, examples of some calls for both luring and scaring away farm animals, typical of the Bulgarian territory, are shown to have supraregional, often surprising parallels.
The prehistoric processes which led to the widespread distribution of these words are at present still unclear.
However, while taking a closer look at these expressions, we can broaden our knowledge about a very archaic linguistic and cultural stratum.
