Kiril Kostov – One of the Most Outstanding Scientists in the Field of Balkan Studies and Linguistics
Abstract
Kiril Kostov (1921–2013) is one of the most outstanding scientists in the field of Balkan studies. The results of his most important research on comparative linguistics listed in this article have always caused a sensation in view of their unexpected conclusions. That is precisely why they are among the outstanding works on this subject. With his extensive knowledge of Bulgarian, Greek, Latin, Russian, Hungarian, and German, as well as of Romanes (especially with regard to linguistic and cultural history), Kiril Kostov succeeded through these studies in showing not only his unusual talent, but also his consistency, diligence and excellent cooperation with his colleagues.
