On the Correspondence of Ármin(ius) Vámbéry VII: Vámbéry's Letters to Karl Theodor Andree and Richard Andree
Abstract
In the article, the author / editor presents an edition of the letters of the great Hungarian explorer and adventurer Ámin(ius) Vámbéry (1835–1913) which he sent between 1866–1895 to the geographer and publisher of the magazine “Globus”, Karl Theodor Andree (1808–1875), and to his son, the ethnologist, geographer and later editor of the magazine “Globus”, Richard Andree (1835–1912) – a total of 22 documents. The originals of the completely reproduced letters can be found in the Andree estate in the Brunswick city archive (No. 1–5 and 7–17, letters to Karl Th. Andree and No. 18–22 letters to Richard Andree), where they are listed under the “Signature: H III 3: 16”, as well as (No. 6, letter to Karl Andree) in the estate of the naturalist Felix Liebeskind (signature: Collection Liebeskind / XI / 197) in the holdings of the department of manuscripts of the Leipzig University Library.
