Abstract

In this article, the author presents an edition of letters between the Hungarian traveller and the Central Asianist and pioneer of Turkology Ámin(iu) Vámbéry. These documents originate from the correspondence with the literary scholar and lexicographer Joseph Kürschner (here a letter from Vámbéry to Kürschner and two letters from Kürschner to Vámbéry from 1884) and with journalist and publicist Julius Rodenberg (here eleven letters from Vámbéry to Rodenberg from 1874–1909). Some of the documents had already been published selectively, but had been reproduced incompletely and at times incorrectly. All these documents are now in the Goethe and Schiller Archive in Weimar.
