Monuments as Janus Heads of Memory – Nationalization of Memory in Eastern Croatia

The article discusses the monuments to the victims of the Second World War in eastern Croatia from today's perspective. It deals with the two-faced culture of remembrance in a post-conflict area, characterized by the two wars during the 20th century. It shows the difference between the socialist Tito-Partisan monuments and a new type of World War II monuments, which were erected after 1991.
