From Paper Note, Book, Archive to Search Engine. Potentials for the Integration of Southeast European Folklore Holdings into an International Narrative Database
Abstract
In this present article, the possibilities of folklore archives and libraries in Southeastern Europe to integrate their collections into the international search engine ISEBEL are presented. ISEBEL stands for “Intelligent Search Engine for Belief Legends”, i.e. a search engine for belief legends, which currently harvested legends from Northern Europe. Currently, ISEBEL integrates about 78,000 legends from Danish, German, Icelandic and Dutch archives. An integration of legend collections from Southeastern Europe is desired. Here the focus is not only on manuscripts of orally transmitted legends and folk songs in archives, but also on the integration of already published collections of legends and folk songs.
