Abstract

The present article compares the South Slavic libretto translations from the Dalmatian coast and Ragusa with the analogous Greek translations from the field of Phanariote literature, which were edited mainly in Vienna. These opera texts without music as dramatic prototype in south-eastern Europe primarily affect the reception of Pietro Metastasio’s rococo-style and classical libretti, which had a significant influence on south-eastern European literature of the 18th and early 19th centuries.
